John H. L’Estrange, Jr. is one of the founding members of Wright & L’Estrange now known as Wright, L’Estrange & Ergastolo.  Although Mr. L’Estrange changed his relationship with Wright, L’Estrange & Ergastolo in 2014 from a partner to “of counsel,” he continues to be actively engaged in the practice of law.  After serving a one year clerkship for federal judge J. Clifford Wallace, he has practiced in San Diego since 1971, specializing in complex business litigation.  He is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in California, the Ninth Circuit, the Federal Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. L’Estrange has tried businesses cases in state and federal courts, including five antitrust jury trials, one of which was 2 years long.  He also has served as an arbitrator and as an advocate in numerous arbitration proceedings before the American Arbitration Association and FINRA.  He was a FINRA arbitrator for 20 years and is currently a member of the commercial and complex case panel for the American Arbitration Association and the international panel for the International Centre for Dispute Resolution. He is the co-author of a book on attorney fee agreements and is the author or co-author of several published articles, including “The Participation of Unlicensed Advocates in California in the Resolution of Disputes Between Investors and Stockbrokers”, California Western Law Review, Vol. 321, No. 1 (Fall 1994) and “Use of Offers to Compromise in Contractual Arbitration”, California Litigation, Vol. 20, No. 3 (Fall 2007). Mr. L’Estrange is a master in the American Inns of Court, William B. Enright Chapter. He has been selected for inclusion in “Best Lawyers in America” since 2004 and is currently listed in the categories of commercial litigation, “bet the company” litigation, and intellectual property litigation.  He was named one of the Best Lawyers in San Diego in various categories by San Diego Magazine from 1996-present.  He is currently listed in “Super Lawyers” for San Diego in the categories of business litigation, antitrust litigation, and alternative dispute resolution.  Mr. L’Estrange is a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. He received his undergraduate degree in finance and economics and his law degree from the University of Notre Dame; and served as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps from 1964-1967.
